In individual therapy, I like to utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques. This kind of therapy is logic-based and seeks to find the patterns of how your thoughts influence your feelings, which then influences your behavior. We often find ourselves thinking, feeling, and behaving in patterns that we call Cognitive Distortions. Identifying these distortions, as well as core beliefs about yourself, are the introductory keys to exploring the evidence for and against your thoughts to create new and positive patterns in your life.
In group therapy, we tackle some of life's biggest issues in a whole group setting. Not only will you learn more about your own mental health, but by interacting with others you gain empathy and respect for others, as well as validation about your experiences. Groups are offered as the need arises, but are always being developed to better reach the community and its needs! Please click the button below to suggest a new group that you'd like to see offered.
CPT takes a cognitive behavioral approach to PTSD. This evidence-based approach does not ask you to relive the worst moment(s) of your life, but rather seeks to ask you WHY you believe it happened to you.
Through the process, you may learn why avoidance behaviors exist, what stuck points have been derived from the trauma, and how it affects 5 major themes: intimacy, power/control, trust, safety, and esteem.
I offer Christian counseling for those seeking a religious-centered experience to counseling. This could include prayer, reading of scripture, and/or observing how God is using you or a situation to educate and mold you.
This is not required of therapy, nor is this considered Biblical Counseling as that is a separate degree and accrediting body.
